Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the manufacturing cost of strippers considerably by forming a hardened part of a required shape to carbon steel by means of laser light, cutting the hardened part at the center and manufacturing male die and female die strippers.
CONSTITUTION: A laser light absorbent is coated uniformly on a carbon steel base material 1 which is refined and finished to a required size. This material is mounted to supporting jigs 6 of an X-Y table 5. The table 5 is moved by the program inputted beforehand with a controller 7 with NC. At the same time, laser light 10 is irradiated to the material 1 by a laser oscillator 8, whereby a laser hardened part 4 is formed. Thence, the central part of the part 4 is cut with a wire cutting electric discharge machine. Said part is hardened to about 30W50 HRC hardness. In this way, a male die stripper 2 and a female die stripper 3 are manufactured simultaneously from the material 1 and these strippers have no strains.
