Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the precise trace of a magnetic head by energizing a moving element in one direction, forming a rack on the side of the moving element along the radius direction of a magnetic recording medium and also forming an non-interfering part on a part of a driving gear engaged with the rack. CONSTITUTION:A moving element 19 supporting a magnetic head 2 is energized in the direction of outside circumference by a spring 21. A rack 22 is formed on the side of the moving element 19 and a driving gear 23 engaged with the rack 22 is driven by a driving shaft 16 through worms 28, 25 and 24, 27. An non- interfering part 29 which does not interfer in the rack 22 is formed in a part of the outside circumference of the driving gear 23. A driving shaft 16 starts to rotate when current is supplied to a field coil 13, and the moving element 19 moves straight from the outside circumference to the inside circumference of a medium 1 while making the spring 21 flexible. When the non-interfering part 29 is opposed to the rack 22 just before the end of one rotation, the moving element 19 is returned to the outside together with the magnetic head 2 by force of the spring 21. Thus, the trace of the magnetic head is decided precisely.
