Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the heavy-load discharge and the liquid-leakage resisting performance of an air electrode by obtaining a porous catalyst layer for the air electrode by making a porous molded body to hold both a metal chelate compound and a perfluoro compound. CONSTITUTION:A porous catalyst layer for an air electrode is formed by preparing a porous molded body from a conductive powder such as active carbon or a graphite, and by making the above porous molded body to hold both a metal chelate having oxygen-gas reducing ability and a perfluoro compound having oxygen-gas dissolving ability. Here, as the metal chelate compound, iron phthalocyanine, copper phthalocyanine or the like is used. As the perfluoro compound, perfluorotri-n-butylamine, perfluorotri-propylamine or the like is preferred.
