Abstract

PURPOSE:To overcome difficulties such as variation of temperature due to intermittent use of a compressor, by arranging a movable ring disposed coaxially with a rotor in the manner that it can be moved freely, and changing the capacity of the compressor by shifting the opening position of a by-pass passage formed in said movable ring. CONSTITUTION:Coolant gas in a cylinder chamber R under the compression stage is carried through a by-pass port 31 formed in a movable ring 29 which is disposed coaxially with a rotor 2 and then introduced into a suction chamber 11 via a by-pass groove 32 and a by-pass port 33 formed in a rear side plate 6. Here, if the angle of rotation of the movable ring 29 is increased and the position of the by-pass port 31 is shifted in the turning direction of the rotor 2, the opening position of the by-pass port 31 is shifted toward the compressor side in the cylinder chamber R, so that the cylinder volume and hence the compressor capacity are decreased. By employing such an arrangement capable of finely controlling the discharge rate of the compressor with no need of operating an electromagnetic clutch intermittently, it is enabled to prevent deterioration in the durability of the clutch and compressor.
