Abstract

PURPOSE:To automate the detection of splice by a device which has a function to discriminate between the seams of printed film and eyemarks, colormarks or etc. printed thereon. CONSTITUTION:A print is scanned by an optoelectric converter 8 so that patterns thereon is converted into an electric signal, the signal is amplified by an amplification circuit 9 and then coded by a binary coding circuit 10 to a binary signal A such that a ground film part of the print assumes an H level and parts such as seams and eyemarks having less reflectivity than the ground film part assumes an L level. When the converter 8 detects the splice, eyemarks and etc., a load signal from an edge detecting circuit 11 turns to an L level for several mu seconds, so that data output from a counter 12 becomes equal to a value preset by a preset switch 13. In a detection signal D outputted from the counter 12, only a part (a) of the signal A at an L level corresponding to the splice is made to have an L level for a period of half pulse of a clock signal C, while a part (b) thereof at an L level corresponding to the eyemarks is made to have an H level. When the signal D assumes an L level, an indication circuit 14 outputs a drive signal for an alarm 15.
