Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the side lobe level at the S band, by forming a feeding element of a cross dipole antenna for a ground station that tracks a rocket, etc. and a linear conductor which functions as a reflector into a mesh which is >=half wavelength at the S band and <=half wavelength at the VHF band respectively. CONSTITUTION:For an S/VHF shared antenna, the electric wave sent from a primary radiator 1 of the S band is reflected by a secondary reflector 2 and a main reflector 1. A cross dipole antenna 4 which functions as a primary radiator of the VHF band is attached to the reflector 2, and a reflector 3 is shared by both S and VHF bands. A linear conductor 8 which is formed by the wire netting with a round section for example is used for the antenna 4. The mesh of the conductor 8 is set at >=half wavelength at the S band and at <=half wavelength at the VHF band respectively. As a result, the conductor 8 is substantially transparent to the electric wave of the S band and functions virtually as a conductor plate to the electric wave of the VHF band. Thus the side lobe level can be improved for a secondary radiation pattern of the S band.
