Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the diffusion of carbon by a nickel layer to obtain a metallurgically excellent junction, by joining a nickel plate and a carbon plate by explosion welding and making this jointed plate into a slice plate and inserting this slice plate between a carbon steel and a stainless steel to join them by explosion welding. CONSTITUTION:A nickel plate which should become an intermediate layer 1 of final goods 8 is used as the first clad material, and a carbon steel plate which should become into one body together with a base metal 7 of final goods 8 is used as the first base metal 2, and a plate shaped explosive 3 is stuck to the outside of the first clad material 1. The first clad material 1 and the first base metal 2 are joined by the explosion welding method. This joined plate is rolled up to prescribed dimensions by a hot rolling mill 4 and is cut to a prescribed length to obtain a slice plate 5. This slice plate 5 is used as an intermediate material, and a stainless steel plate is used as the second clad material 6, and a carbon steel plate is used as the second base metal 7, and they are piled up, and the plate shaped explosive 3 is stuck to the outside of the second clad material 6. These materials are joined by the explosion welding method and are rolled up to prescribed dimensions by the hot rolling mill 4 and are cut to prescribed dimensions, thus obtaining a stainless clad steel plate as final goods 8.
