Abstract

PURPOSE: To gasify a particulate material pyrolytically by a method wherein an annular part between a cylindrical container and an inner cylinder and said inner cylinder are each divided into three or more zones and the particulate material is recirculated between both of them in a high temp. fluidized layer condition and a combustible substance is continuously sent into one zone of the annular part.
CONSTITUTION: A combustible substance 12 is continuously sent into a first zone 14 of an annular part between a cylindrical container 1 and an inner cylinder 2 and dispersed and mixed in a fluidized particulate material at 500W1,000°C to be gasified therein and leaves the particulate material fluidized layer. The residual char is transferred to a first zone 16 in the inner cylinder from the opening 15 thereof and transferred to a second zone of the annular part from the opening 17 thereof. Thus, the particulate material is successively recirculated in the order of zones 14→16→18→20→22→24→14. The combustible substance is pyrolytically gasified in zone 14 and a part of the formed char is burnt or partially oxidized in zone 18 to heat the particulate material. The particulate material is gasified in zone 22 by steam or CO2 or, according to necessity, a mixture of said gases with O2. The resulting low-temperature particulate material is sent to zone 14 to complete a cycle and supply heat energy required in pyrolytic gasification.
