Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled compsn. which has excellent resistance to heat and impact and little suffers changes in physical properties by the thickness of molded articles, by adding a specified thermoplastic elastomer to a dispersion phase consisting of polyphenylene oxide and a rubber-modified arom. alkenyl polymer.
CONSTITUTION: A compsn. is obtd. by adding at least one thermoplastic elastomer (C) selected from a copolymer (i) obtd. by graft-polymerizing an arom. alkenyl compd. onto a polyolefin, an ethylene/fatty acid vinyl ester copolymer or an ethylene/unsaturated carboxylic acid ester copolymer and a block copolymer composed of an arom. alkenyl compd. and an aliph. conjugated diene compd. or a hydrogenated product thereof (ii) to a dispersion phase which is composed of polyphenylene oxide (A) and a rubber-modified arom. alkenyl polymer (B) and in which the average particle size of rubber is 1μ or larger. Component C is added to the dispersion phase in a proportion such that at least 95% of rubber particles in the whole dispersion phase consists of particles having a particle size of 0.5μ or smaller originated from the thermoplastic elastomer of component C.
