Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a high-tensile steel plate of low crack sensitivity without addition of Mo, etc. that entails increase in sensitivity and cost by adding Nb, V, Ti, etc. and specifying rolling and heat treatment conditions. CONSTITUTION:Steel consisting, by weight %, of 0.03-0.10 C, 0.05-0.50 Si, 0.50-2.00 Mn, >=1 kind of 0.005-0.050 Ti, 0.010-0.050 Nb, and 0.03-0.10 V, and if necessary, 0.10-1.00 Ni and/or 0.0005-0.0030 B and the balance Fe and unavoidable impurities and <=0.20 PCM (weld crack sensitivity) of the equation is heated to 1,100-1,280 deg.C, and is rolled at >=30% draft at <=950 deg.C, immediately after which it is hardened or hardened and tempered. Namely, while the strength is improved by keeping C low and allowing carbides of Nb, V, Ti to deposit more than required, the degradation in toughness is prevented and the nonrecrystallizing region of austenite is widened by these elements. In this region, the steel is rolled and is directly hardened from the austenite having received sufficiently large working strains, whereby the strength is improved and the deficiency in the strength on account of the insufficiency in the carbides of Nb, Ti, V is compensated.
