Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic receptor with superior mechanical characteristics such as toughness and adhesion and superior electrophotographic characteristics by using a specified polyester amide as the binder of a photoconductive laye or an adhesive for adhering an electrically conductive substrate to the layer. CONSTITUTION:A copolymer (polyester amide) consisting of ester units repre- sented by formulaIand/or formula II and amide units represented by formula III (where l is 10 or 11) and/or formula IV [where R is -(CH2)n- or a monocyclic aromatic ring; n is 6-10; and m is 6-12] is used. Said polyester amide is applied to an electrically conductive substrate to form an adhesive layer having <=about 20mum thickness for adhering the substrate to a photoconductive layer, or it is added to a photoconductive substance such as selenium (alloy) or carbazole by >=about 10wt% and used as the binder of the photoconductive layer.
