Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect the exact level of molten metal removing effect from disturbing factors by computing the output of a detection coil when the exciting current of a varied frequency is applied to a generating coil approaching the surface of the molten metal with a switching of more than one oscillators. CONSTITUTION:The exciting current of a fixed frequency is applied to a generating coil 4 through a switch 9 from one 8a of oscillators 8 arranged in the number according to the number of disturbing factors and the intensity of the secondary magnetic field accompanied by an eddy current generated with an intensity depending on the distance from the surface 2a of a molten metal is detected with a detector through a detection coil 5. The output of the detector is provided to an arithmetic unit 14. Then, with the changeover of the switch 9, an exciting current is applied to the generating coil 4 in a different frequency and likewise, the output of the detector 11 is provided to the arithmetic unit 14, where a computation will be done to correct changes in the output due to disturbing factors. This eliminates effect from disturbing factors enabling the indication 16 of an exact level of the molten metal.
