Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the method and device for the microwave fixing of an electrophotographic copier by providig two kinds of fixing modes and fixing images on copying paper which reacts with microwaves without irradiating the microwaves directly thereto. CONSTITUTION:Two kinds of fixing modes that can be selected are provided. In the first fixing mode, a microwave heater 14 is held disabled at all times. It operates only when copying paper 13 arrives at the heater 14, by which the paper 13 is directly heated with microwaves. In the 2nd fixing mode, the heater 14 is held operated at all times and only when the paper 13 arrives at the heater 14, it is disabled so that the paper 13 is indirectly heated with the waste heat of the heater 14. The fixing of the paper 13 of all kinds of paper quality is accomplished by the microwaves simply by changing over a fixing mode selection switch 17 depending upon the paper quality.
