Abstract
PURPOSE:To display the colored states of a reduction coloring type EC material layer and an oxidation coloring type EC material layer in superposition by interposing a halide layer and an electron blocking layer berween both EC material layers, and coloring and decoloring both EC material layers simultaneously when voltage is applied thereto. CONSTITUTION:An ITO film of 2,000Angstrom film thickness is vacuum vapor deposited on the 1st transparent substrate 51 consisting of soda lime glass, and is photoetched to form segment driving electrodes 52. A WO3 layer 53 of 5,000Angstrom thickness is vacuum vapor deposited thereon. A positive type photoresist layer 54 of 1mu thickness is coated with a spinner thereon. An LiI layer 56 of 5,000Angstrom thickness and an SiO layer 57 of 2,500Angstrom thickness are continuously laminated by vapor deposition on the cell without breaking the vacuum. An Ir(OH)n layer 58 is formed on the parts of the plane shapes corresponding to display parts 25 by mask ion plating. The 1st transparent substrate 51 and the 2nd transparent substrate 61 laminated with the respective layers in this way are brought into press contact with other mechanically, whereby the cell is constituted.
