Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve electrode life, eliminate uneven colors at the same time, and obtain a superior electrochromic display body (ECD) by composing the transparent electrodes of said display body of two layers of In2O3, and SnO2.
CONSTITUTION: An In2O3 film 202 is formed on a glass substrate 201 by a sputtering method, and an SnO2 film 203 is formed thereon by a chemical vapor deposition method, thence a mask is made by a photoetching method, and the films 202, 203 are etched to make a transparent electrode pattern. Next, WO3 204 is vapor deposited in alignment to the pattern by using the mask. Thence, a spacer 205, and a white color ceramic plate 206 are inserted, and a glass substrate 208 having a counter electrode 207 is thermocompression-bonded. Finally, electrolyte is injected through a hole 209, and the hole is sealed by means of a sealing plug 210 and the resin. In2O3 has low resistance and is easy to be deteriorated by electrolysis, but Sn2 has high resistance and is hard to be deteriorated by electrolyte, hence the life is prolonged by the lamination of the layers 202, 203, and the occurrence of uneven colors in the case of the SnO2 layer alone is prevented.
