Abstract
PURPOSE:To greatly extend the durable life of a dip pipe to be used for the vacuum refining of molten steel by forming the outer lining of the dip pipe by a method in which a MgO-C-based refractory brick with uneven portions for connection is fixed by means of fixing metals provided on a steel plate. CONSTITUTION:For a suction pipe for DH method and a dip pipe for RH method to be used in vacuum refiners, outer lining is formed by welding and fixing a steel sheath 2 and a steel plate 12 to the outside of an inner lining consisting of an inside refractory brick 4 and a castable refractory 3 by means of fixing metals 15. Then, a castable refractory 14 is packed between them and then a MgO-C-based refractory brick 10 with dowels 11 for forming uneven portions for connection in almost horizontal or circumferential direction in relation to axis to the steel plate 12 by means of fixing metals 13. Since the outer lining of the dip or suction pipe is made of the bricks, not castable refractory, and also fixed by the fixing metals, no falling of the outer lining due to the flow of molten steel occurs and also the durable life of the outer lining is lengthened.
