Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the erosion of tuyeres, and to extend the life of the bottom part of a converter by burying bar-like iron materials in the sleeve bricks provided by enclosing the tuyere pipe bodies of bottom blowing tuyeres by leaving spaces in the circumferential direction of the section of the sleeve bricks and locating the end parts thereof to face the furnace inside direction. CONSTITUTION:In bottom blowing tuyeres 2 provided in the furnace body part under the molten metal 3 surface of a converter 1, sleeve bricks 6 are provided by enclosing tuyere pipes 2. Bar-like iron materials 7 are buried by leaving suitable intervals in the circumferential direction of the section of said sleeve bricks 6 and the end parts of the materials 7 are located to face the inner side of the converter 1. High carbon steel of high melting temps. which does not melt by the heat from the sleeve bricks 6 is desirable for these iron materials 7.
