Abstract
PURPOSE:To relax slippage of joint and erosion between refractory bricks and to extend service life of submerged tube by forming the refractory bricks for lining the submerged tube in vacuum degassing apparatus to the specific tapered shapes on the four faces thereof, alternately arranging reversely toward the upper and the lower sides and forming them to cylindrical shape. CONSTITUTION:At the time of producing the submerged tube of the vacuum degassing apparatus, the refractory bricks 4 are cylindrically lined through castable refractory 3 on an inner peripheral face of a cylindrical core metal 1 having flange 2 at the upper end to form passage 5 of molten metal and the castable refractory 3 is lined at outside of the core metal 1. As the lined refractory bricks 4 used in this case, in the case of using (a) and (b) for the widths of both ends of the operating face A facing to the passage 5 of the molten steel, and (c) and (d) for the widths of both ends of the non-operating face B not facing to the passage 5 of the molten steel, they are formed to a<b and c<d and the lined refractory bricks having these shape are connected with the joint as alternately reversing toward upper and lower sides and by cylindrically piled lining, the submerged tube is constituted.
