Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce looseness at joints to effect an enhanced service life of bricks particularly at the neck section by a method wherein packing-adjusting brick are pushed toward the center of a converter furnace in the final packing process in brick lining for bricking of the converter neck section. CONSTITUTION:A nonpermanent lined section 6 having no permanently stacked line bricks 2 is formed at one or two (opposite surfaces) locations on the peripheral where the final packing is to be installed shown in Fig (a). Next, liner bricks 3 are stacked at each step or two steps (b). At the nonpermanet lined section 6, adjusted bricks 3a having adjusted and fabricated form are dropped from the top and are pressed from the side of shell 5 toward the furnace center, during which a sufficient packing operation is performed (c). Then, into the space 6' between the bricks 3a and the shell 5, permanent liner bricks 8 having adjusted form are pushed, using fixture metals 7' as a guide, so that the brick stacking is finished.
