Abstract

PURPOSE:To weld the works by frictional pressure satisfactorily irrespective of their sizes and shapes by pressing the works against a rotary disc from both sides to heat their abutting surfaces, and detaching the works and the disc relatively then welding the works to each other under high pressure. CONSTITUTION:A rotary disc 5 supported with bearings 4, 4 provided to a base 3 is rotated at a preset high speed by means of a motor 6. Thence, the works 7, 7' are brought into press abutment on the disc 5 under pressing forces F, F, to heat the welding surfaces 8, 8' thereof to high temp. by friction heat, thereby melting these surfaces to a half-melted state. Then, the works 7, 7' are detached from the disc 5 instantaneously and immediately the surfaces 8, 8' are welded by high pressure pressing forces F', F', whereby they are bound metallurgically. Hence, the disc 5 is rotated at all times, and is kept ready for pressure welding and friction heating of the next works 7, 7'.
