Abstract

1458850 Making connecting rods; brazing; welding by pressure ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 13 Nov 1974 [14 Nov 1973] 49128/74 Headings B3A and B3R [Also in Division F2] A slipper for an hydraulic piston machine comprises a pad 13, a shaft 12 and a head 11 made from individual parts and at least two of these components are joined together by a process involving the use of heat. The head 11 may be a commercially available part, while the shaft 12 may be cut from steel bar and the pad 13, which is preferably of bronze, may be the segment of a tube. The components are joined together by friction or resistance welding, brazing or using an adhesive that fuses on heating. Prior to joining the components are placed in a fixture and the shaft 12 may be recessed into the head 11 or pad 13, Figs. 2, 5 (not shown). Alternatively either the head and shaft or the shaft and pad may be formed as a single component, which is then secured to the pad or head respectively, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown). Brazing is performed by placing discs of brazing material (29), (30), Fig. 5, in recesses in the head and pad, assembling them on the shaft and heating the assembly in a protective atmosphere. When brazing or using a fusible adhesive non- ferrous metals may be used, possibly in combination with steel.
