Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce vibration of an engine and emission of noise, in a crankshaft of the reciprocating multi-cylinder engine for an automobile, by setting torsional rigidity of at least one of the crank pins to not lower than an equal level of torsional rigidity of crank journals. CONSTITUTION:Outside diameters of the first - fourth crank pins 26-29 are formed larger than outside diameters of crank journals 21-25 to obtain larger torsional rigidity of the crank pins 26-29 than torsional rigidity of the crank journals 21-25. The pitch of a vibration mode in torsional vibration of the crankshaft is located in the vicinity of the crank pin 29 and the crank journal 25 approximate to a flywheel 30, further the torsional displacement in the vicinity of the pitch tends to rapidly change. However, in this constituion, a severely changing part of the torsional vibration displacement is located between the journal 25 and the flywheel 30, and the torsional displacement of the journals 21-25 can be decreased to reduce input of vibration.
