Abstract
PURPOSE:To save the fuel required for soaking, to reduce the required time and to improve productivity by performing a soaking treatment by utilizing the latent heat of slidification of unsolidified parts while conveying steel ingots from a knocking-out part to a blooming installation and dividing the steel ingots to a rolling line or a soaking pit on the basis of rolling temps. CONSTITUTION:While steel ingots A are conveyed by moving a steel ingot conveying carriage 1 between the knocking-out part of a casting installation and a blooming installtion, they are subjected to soaking by heating adiobically in the carriage 1. At the point of the time when the ingots A attain the prescribed rolling temp., they are immediately removed from the carriage 1 and are bloomed. The ingots are conveyed while the change of the temp. during this time is checked with a temp. detector 13. If the surface temp. of the ingots fail to be recuperated up to the blooming temp. owing to a certain reason, they are charged into a soaking pit and after they are recuperated sufficiently, they are bloomed. As a result, the heat diffusion in the conveying process of the steel ingot is prevented, and the production control for blooming is made easy by controlling the steel ingot temp. strictly in the conveying process.
