Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress effectively unusual noise produced when a throttle valve is suddenly closed by a method wherein a one-way valve is provided in a suction passage at upper stream of the compressor of a supercharger. A muffler is connected on the suction passage between the valve and the compressor. CONSTITUTION:A turbosupercharger S consists of the turbine T which is driven by exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine E into the exhaust passage 9 and the compressor C which is connected with the turbine through the driving shaft 15 serving to compress intake air from the suction passage 9 for supercharging it to a combustion chamber 4 of the engine E. In this setup, the inlet of the suction passage 9 is located in an air cleaner Ac where a cleaner element 29 is provided at its front end. A reed valve 24 is provided at the inlet of the suction passage 9. A branch for muffler 25 is provided between the reed valve 24 and the compressor C on the suction passage 9 to connect a muffler 26. This fearure allows prevention of unusual noise produced when the throttle valve 20 is suddenly closed by discharging back flow of intake air into atmosphere through the muffler 26.
