USE: Colorants which color high-molecular materials such as polystyrene resin red with excellent fastness.
PREPARATION: A 4-hydrazinonaphthalimide of formula II is reacted with 1- pyrenecarbaldehyde of formula III in an org. acid or in an inert solvent and in the presence of a reaction accelerator such as p-toluenesulfonic acid at 80W200°C to produce the compd. of formulaI.
