Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the title compound useful as an intermediate of medicine, pesticide, etc., under extremely mild conditions, by reacting an organic thionitrite or thionitrate with an arylamine, a cupric halide and an olefin.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula II (R is alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl or heterocyclic group; Ar is aryl; X is halogen; Z is cyano, aminocarbonyl, etc.), e.g. 2-aryl-1-haloethane, is prepared by reacting (A) an organic thionitrite or thionitrate of formula R-SNOx (x is 1,2), e.g. t-butyl thionitrite or thionitrate, with (B) an arylamine of formula ArNH2, e.g. p-nitroaniline, (C) a cupric halide of formula CuX2 and (D) an olefin of formula I, e.g. acrylonitrile.
