Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the biassing of cleaning balls in a pipe or the floating of the cleaning balls to the water surface due to the containment of air in the balls, making the performance and recovery of the balls inefficient, by uniformly subjecting the cleaning balls to be used in a ball cleaner to a hydrating treatment. CONSTITUTION:To subject cleaning balls to a hydrating treatment, a three- way valve 10 is first operated in a direction that leads a ball recovery device 8 to the second ball charging device 11 and then an inlet valve 9 is opened. Under the condition, a pump 7 is operated, whereupn cooling water is directed from a discharge pipe 3 to the ball recovery device 8 and cleaning balls in the device 8 are impregnated with the cooling water. Then, the cleaning balls are sent to the ball recovery device through a duct 12, the ball charging device 11, a cooling water discharge pipe 3, a ball collecting device 5, and a circulating pump 7, during which the balls are deformed and air present in the balls is replaced with water.
