Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of rising up and drooping down of the cut edge of a steel band during side trimming by penetrating rotary circular blades into the steel band for cutting the latter. CONSTITUTION:A pair of rotary circular blades 6, 6' having a truncated corn cross-sectioned shape with keen edges 7, 7' which are vertically arranged in one vertical plane so that the edges 7, 7' are disposed to make contact together, are used for forming grooves of wedge shape along the trim line of a steel band 2 in both front and back surfaces of the steel band 2 due to plastic deformation. Then, the grooves in both front and back surfaces are communicated by the touching portions of the pair of vertically arranged rotary circular blades 6, 6', thereby the steel band 2 may be cut with neither rising up and drooping down.
