Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve thermal efficiency by providing air-permeable solid walls respectively between both surfaces of a strip to be heat-treated and the furnace walls provided to face both surfaces thereof, forming heating chambers between the opposite surfaces, providing gas blowing devices for heating, and using the spaces between the furnace walls and the air-permeable solid walls as gas discharge flow passages. CONSTITUTION:Air-permeable solid walls 3 are provided between a strip 2 to be heat-treated and the furnace walls 1 provided to face both surfaces thereof respectively, and heating chambers 8 are formed between the opposite surfaces thereof. Blowing devides 5 for heating gases are provided in the chambers 8, and the spaces between the walls 1 and the walls 3 are used as gas discharge flow passages. The heating gases supplied from the devices 5 are filled in the chambers 8 because the walls 3 have pressure drops, after which they pass through the walls 3, thereby heating the walls 3. Hence, the strip 2 is heated by the radiation heat of the walls 5 and the heating gases.
