Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the water-resistance of an adhesive suitable for the bonding of corrugated boards, by adjusting the titled adhesive to a specific pH, and adding a urea resin solution together with a latex composed mainly of a carboxylated SBR to the adhesive.
CONSTITUTION: A starch adhesive paste solidifiable with cooling (preferably the temperature of the paste is 80W100°C and the concentration is 20W50wt%) is adjusted to 4W7pH with a pH-regulating agent such as caustic soda, and is mixed with a urea resin solution (preferably 1W20wt% of the starch) together with a latex composed mainly of a carboxylated SBR (preferably 1W20wt% of the starch). Bonding of corrugated boards with the adhesive is preferably carried out by applying the hot adhesive to the surface of the board to be bonded, and cooling spontaneously or forcibly immediately after bonding.
