During the execution of this check and adjustment program, a drum 1, a charging electrode 2, a developing device 5, a transfer electrode 8, a separation electrode 9, a cleaner 12, etc. are all kept ready. When the necessary adjustment has been finished, a stop button is pushed, and after confirming that all the actions of the apparatus have stopped, the apparatus is changed over to the practical operation program mode.
