PURPOSE:To facilitate adjustments by simplifying a DA converter for the low-order bits. CONSTITUTION:The high-order digit bits 1-m of the output of a digital phase comparator 1 are DA-converted by a DA converter 4, and the low-order digit bits m+1-n by a DA converter 5. Analog outputs of the DA conversion are added together by an adding circuit 6, and the sum is applied to a voltage-controlled quartz oscillator VCXO3, whose oscillation frequency is controlled, so that the output signal of the VCXO3 phase-synchronizes with an input signal. As the DA converter 4, a high-precision DA converter of a ladder type, etc., is used, but it is only for the high-order digit bits, so the width of a stairecase-shaped step is large and adjustments for linear operation are easily. As the DA converter 5, on the other hand, a converter is used which varies the duty of pulses and converts them into an analog signal.
