Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize a parallel optical transmission system which does not require an auxiliary transmission line by monitoring an error of a parallel transmission line, fiber by fiber, independently by redundant binary codes and by making a reception-side parity check on transmitted signals except a parity signal. CONSTITUTION:A transmitting circuit 21 encodes and transmits parallel input signals to a trnsmission line together with an added parity signal. A decoding and error detecting circuit 24 decodes the parallel signals and also detects a code error in the transmitted signals to specify one optical fiber wherein the error occurs in process of the transmission, thereby outputting decoded parallel signals 25, a specifying signal 26 for the fault-occurring transmission line, an error detection signal 27, and a code 28 for the parity of the trnsmission side. A parity circuit 29 makes a reception-side parity check on all of the transmitted parallel signals 25 except the parity signal to output a parity code 29. A signal generator 31 inputs the codes 28 and 29 to output a correct signal 32 which corresponds to the error signal. An outputting circuit 33 substitutes the error signal by the signal 32 to output a correct signal 34.
