Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the quality of sintered ore by controlling the volume of blast gas before firing with quick lime and regulating the melting characteristics of starting material in a sintering process by changeover from limestone to converter slag or from converter slag to limestone so as to make the volume pattern of blast gas in a sintering zone proper.
CONSTITUTION: When the volume pattern of blast gas in a sintering zone is regulated, the permeability in a surge hopper 5 and the thickness of a starting material layer before firing are gauged with a permeability gauge 8 set in the hopper 5 and a thickness gauge 9 set in front of a firing furnace 4, respectively. The 2 signals are inputted to calculate the permeability before firing with a device for gauging the permeability before firing. When this value deviates from the set value, the amount of added quick lime is controlled with a controller for the permeability before firing to make the permeability before firing uniform. The permeability of the layer in a sintering process is then gauged with wind gauges 10, and the signals are fetched to conduct changeover from limestone to converter slag or from converter slag to limestone with a controller for air in the layer. Thus, the permeability of the layer is controlled.
