Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce Al reinforced particle dispersion at a low cost with high productivity by injecting ceramic particles and a degassing agent simultaneously into the molten Al in a crucible thereby performing uniform dispersion of the ceramic particle and a degassing treatment simultaneously. CONSTITUTION:Base metal of Al is melted in a crucible a to make molten Al(c), and the surface thereof is covered with a covering agent (b) for preventing oxidation. A nozzle (f) passed therein with two pieces of pipes is inserted into this molten Al(c), and a gas (d) for degassing and ceramic particles (e) are fed by pressure simultaneously and are injected from the nozzle. Thereby, the ceramic particles are dispersed uniformly into the molten Al and at the same time, a degassing treatment is accomplished. Thence, the molten Al is subjected to a killing stage by a conventional method, after which it is charged into a mold, whereby the casting of the Al reinforced by particle dispersion is obtained. Accordingly to this method, the ceramic particles disperse in the Al casting do not melt into the A base phase and therefore the high temp. strength is improved.
