Abstract

PURPOSE: An electroluminescent element of high luminance and a prolonged life, which comprises a fluorescent substance of a specified average particle size contg. zinc sulfide, copper and aluminum in a specified proportion.
CONSTITUTION: An electroluminescent element comprising a fluorescent substance of average particle size ≥10μn consisting of zinc sulfide, copper and aluminum, wherein said fluorescent substance contg. on the average 0.1W0.8mol%, based on the zinc sulfide, copper and aluminum, in a mol% ratio of the copper to the aluminum of 1W4. Said average means one half of the total content, based on the zinc sulfide, of the copper and aluminum, i.e., (mol% Cu+mol% Al)/2, and the mol% ratio of the copper to aluminum means mol% Cu/mol% Al.
