Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce momentary power to a level equivalent to driving one nozzle eliminating change of a nozzle and a drop in the printing speed by driving nozzles without overlapping each other having each nozzle synchronizing a specified pulse train. CONSTITUTION:In an apparatus designed to perform printing with selective driving of individual nozzles moving a ink jet nozzle row having seven nozzles Y1-Y7 from X1-X5, signals Y1-Y7 applied to conversion elements of the nozzles corresponding to outputs of D flipflops F1-F7 for temporarily memorizing driving signals D1-D7 and AND outputs of signals from a shift register SR for transmitting pulse signals sequentially to G1-G7 whereby shifted in time not to overlap each other. The nozzle is scanned from X1-X5. But in the case of an ink jet printer in which the pulse width (t) can be lessened sufficiently, the positional deviation is very limited between dots at the Y1 and these at the Y7.
