Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the rate of elements of good quality by making defective parts inconspicuous by displaying the defective parts in a neutral tint, by outputting from a compensating circuit a neutral-tint signal preset corresponding to the output signal of a solid image pickup element for a screen defective. CONSTITUTION:A clock is inputted to an address counter 1 to scan addresses of an image pickup element 2. The black or white level of the output of this image pickup element 2 is detected by a detecting circuit 3 to obtain spot-flaw or line-flaw information and at the same time, an address can be taken. In this case, the detecting circuit 3 sets two reference levels to regard output signals between the both as ''0''s and outputs below or above the range as ''1''s, and they are inputted to a RAM4. In the RED mode of a READ/WRITE control circuit 5, the information in the RAM4 is sent to an input changeover circuit 6. Then, the output of the detecting circuit 3 for a screen defective is turned off and a neutral-tint signal preset to a level setting circuit 7 is applied to the circuit 6 to output a defective part in a neutral tint.
