Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the quality of a picture from deteriorating remarkably by removing ghost signals by measuring residual distortion by using a signal waveform differing from a reference waveform used by a waveform equalizer and by selecting either of an input signal and output signal according to the measurement result. CONSTITUTION:This system is provided with 1st and 2nd timing circuits 25 and 26. Then, 1st timing circuit 25, when input signal f(t) is a television signal, detects the trailing point of a vertical synchronizing signal and waveform equalizer 21 operates at this timing. On the other hand, 2nd timing circuit 26 detects the leading edge of a horizontal synchronizing signal in input signal f(t) and residual distortion measuring circuit 23 is brought under the control of 2nd timing circuit 26 to measure the residual distortion of output signal g(t) of waveform equalizer 21. According to this measurement result, switch 22 is controlled so as to select and lead out high- quality one between input signal f(t) and output signal g(t) of waveform equalizer 21 at any time.
