Abstract

PURPOSE:To stabilize the effect of power reinforcement of external pressure, by providing a differential action member which opens the valve of a pressure accumulator when a pressure source is defective and by making larger the effective pressure reception area of the differential action member as to a pressure chamber than that of the member as to liquid pressure generation chamber. CONSTITUTION:A differential action member 261 is slidably fitted in the cylinder hole 262 of a housing 26. The cylinder hole 262 has a small-diameter part and a large-diameter part. The large-diameter part is connected to the pressure chamber M2 of a power reinforcer 2 through a hole 263. The small-diameter part is connected to the liquid pressure generation chamber M1 of a master cylinder 1 through a pipe not shown in the drawing. One end of the differential action member 261 receives the pressure of the liquid pressue generation chamber M1 and the other end receives that of the pressure chamber M2. The effective pressure reception area of the member 261 as to the chamber M1 is smaller than that of the member as to the chamber M2. When required pressure is lost, the differential action member 261 is moved leftward to open a check valve 52 by a tapered surface near the circumferential groove 270 of the member to introduce the pressure of a pressure accumulator 5 into the pressure chamber M2.
