Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure the quality of wastes rapidly and accurately, by measuring the velocity of ultrasonic waves by piston-shaped sensors which are inserted and fixed at the inside of a shoe fitted to a supporting material and apply pressure to the wall of a vessel. CONSTITUTION:A ring-shaped supporting material 2 is installed on the outside circumference of a drum can 1, and a shoe 3 which has the tip part provided with a round hole part 4 and formed into an arc shape 5 and has a T type hollow cylinder 6 is fixed to the supporting material horizontally. Oil is charged from the lower part of the cylinder 6 to move the shoe 3 into the supporting material, and the arc-shaped part 5 is press-fixed to the drum can 1 to apply pressure to the wall of the drum can. Sensors 9 and 9' have tip parts projected simultaneously from the round hole part of the shoe, and they are brought into contact with the wall of the drum can. Sensors are pressed upward by an oil pressure 8 from the bottom parts of sensors to apply pressure to the wall. Ultrasonic waves are radiated from one sensor facing to the other and are received by the other, thus measuring the solidification state, the crack part, and the space part.
