Abstract
PURPOSE:To control and dry MgO efficiently to optimum temp. by disposing induction coils around a traveling line for a silicon steel strip coated with slurry- like MgO and supplying high frequency current from a thyristor inverter. CONSTITUTION:A drying furnace body 11 provided with induction coils 10, 10' is disposed in a traveling line for a silicon steel strip 1 coated with slurry-like MgO. This coil 10 forms an evaporating zone Z1, and the coil 10' forms a baking zone Z2. When thyristor inverters 12, 12' are connected to the coils 10, 10' and high frequency large current of about 8-10kHz is supplied thereto, a high frequency magnetic field is generated in the body 11, and eddy current is generated in the silicon steel body. The steel strip itself evolves heat by the effect of the Joule heat by the eddy current, whereby the drying and baking of the slurry- like MgO are effected. If at this time the electric power source is interrupted, the evolution of heat can be stopped instantaneously, whereby the overbaking of the steel strip is prevented despite the stagnation of the steel strip.
