Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover gaseous Ar and CO efficiently in an argon-oxygen blowing method by sucking gases of high gaseous Ar purity into a recovery system from the waste gases produced when gaseous N2 is mixed and blown, adsorbing impurity gases with adsorbents and sucking gaseous CO into a discharge system.
CONSTITUTION: A gaseous mixture of Ar, O2, N2 is blown intermittently through double tuyeres 3 into the molten stainless steel 2 in a blowing furnace 1. At the same time, waste gases 5 of high temp. consisting of gaseous Ar, CO, N2 are produced, and these are divided to a discharge side 7 of low concn. of gaseous Ar and large content of gaseous CO, and a refining side 8 of large content of gaseous Ar. The waste gases past the side 7 takes air 11 therein in a combustion tower 10 and are discharged therefrom as CO2 or are fed into a holder 19 without allowing CO to oxidize by closing an air valve 30, so that the heat is recovered therefrom in a boiler or the like. On the other hand, the waste gases past the side 8 are cooled and scrubbed in a cooler 22, are adsorbed away of impurities by adsorbents in an adsorption device 27, and are stored as refined gaseous Ar in a holder 28.
