Abstract
PURPOSE:To adapt an optical cutting method in an extremely narrow place as well and to perform accurate welding cross-sectional shape detection by dispposing a curving means in such a way as to irradiate the slit light from a light projecting means to the optical axis position of a photodetecting means on a weld zone. CONSTITUTION:The laser light generated in a laser light generator 14 is passed through an optical fiber 15 and is projected as slit light 10' from a cylindrical lens 10. This light is refracted by a mirror 13 to refracted light 10'' which is irradiated along the circumference of a pipe to the optical axis position 6A of an ITV camera 8' on beads 6. The reflected light 10''' corresponding to the profile of the beads 6 passing here in accordance with the movement of a pipe body 2 is obtained by the refracted light 10'' irradiated to the position 6A, and is made incident to the camera 8'. In this way, the shape detection signal corresponding to the profile of the beads 6 is inputted to a cathode ray tube 17, by which the accurate shape is obtained. Further, it is inputted to an analytic device 18, by which welding conditions such as quantity of heat input, squeeze quantity and the like are controlled in accordance with the information.
