Abstract
PURPOSE:To make sectional shape detection possible in real time by irradiating slit light to the inside surface weld zone of a welded pipe, receiving the reflected light thereof and detecting the sectional shape of the weld zone. CONSTITUTION:Laser light is passed through an optical fiber 11 and is projected as slit light from a cylindrical lens 6. This light is curved by mirrors 8, 9 and is irradiated along the circumference of a pipe to the parts A, B to be examined. The reflected light corresponding to the profile of the build-up part 1A of the beads passed by the movement of a pipe body 2 and the reflected light corresponding to the profile of the weld zone after cutting are obtained by the irradiated slit light, and the beams of the reflected light are curved by a mirror 10 and are made incident to an ITV camera 7. The shape detection signal obtained in the camera 7 is inputted to a CRT, where the accurate shape corresponding to the profile there is obtained. On the basis of the results thereof, the control of welding conditions is accomplished in real time, whereby the control of the cutting conditions with a cutter is accomplished.
