CONSTITUTION:A ladderform or netty measuring rod retainer 3 is installed to an upper part of an object 5 to be measured consisting of back panels in 4 stages by means of a removable fixture 4, and is hung down. A hook 8, which can engage the step of the measuring rod tetainer 3, is attached directly or indirectly to a measuring rod 2, a signal terminal 7 of the object 5 to be measured is inserted into a hole 9 formed in the forward end of the measuring rod 2, and with this the hook engages the step of the measuring rod retainer 3 for securing thereat. This eliminates the need to hold the measuring rod 2 during the measuring operation by a hand, and even in the case of a 2-phenomenon observation, a work can be done without the need for an auxiliary member for holding the measuring rod 2.
