Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it surely possible to remove attached hard ink by providing a ink-soluble liquid supply means that is opposite to the home position of a carriage that has an ink jet mounted. CONSTITUTION:A capping device 21 is provided on the platen side 8 and at a position opposite to the home position of a carriage 4. When the capping device 21 is advanced by a knob, the rubber 27 at the tip 22 of the capping arm is pressed on to the tip 10a of a nozzle holder 10. If, in this state, the rod 29a of a pump 28 is pushed downwards, the inside of the pump becomes vacuum. Then the solution (ink) in a sub-tank 13 is drawn through a tube 33 to jet out in the capping rubber 27, and the ink is shot at the tip of the nozzle 12. This makes the ink that is hard and attached on inside of the nozzle 12 dissolved and drawn into the pump 28 through the tube 32.
