Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the cooling effect by a cooling fan by heightening the height of the coil end of a stator coil of a phase disposed at the inner diameter side higher than that at the outer diameter side. CONSTITUTION:A stator 3 is formed of a stator core 3 and stator coils 3b-3d wound on the core 3a. The stator coil is so wound that the heights of the coil ends are lowest at the coil 3b of the first phase near the inner diameter side, highest at the coil 3d of the third phase at the outer diameter side and middle at the coil 3c of the second phase. Since the heights of the coil ends of the respective stator coils are thus wound stepwisely, cooling airs from cooling fans 8, 8' are contacted with the entire coils 3b and 3c. In this manner, the cooling effects of the fans 8, 8' can be improved.
