Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the thermal efficiency and gas-flow controlling performance of a water heater, by employing such an arrangement that the fan speed and the opening of a main gas flow controlling valve are controlled by the function of an oscillator and by controlling the motor speed on the basis of an output signal produced from a controller in response to the temperature of hot water supplied. CONSTITUTION:The temperature detected by a temperature detector 8 is applied to a controlling means 9 and compared with a set value, and an output signal of the means 9 is in turn furnished to a flow control valve 7 for controlling the gas flow in a main gas passage 4 by changing the speed of a motor (not shown) and thereby keeping the temperature of hot water supplied at a set value. Further, since the motor is interconnected to a fan 18, the speed of the fan 18 is increased or decreased with change of the motor speed, so that air-flow rate is changed with gas-flow rate. Since, with such an arrangement, gas-flow rate can be controlled finely in response to the small change of temperature of hot water supplied, gas-flow rate controlling performance of the water heater can be improved. Further, since the air-flow rate can be controlled to meet with the combustion rate, the thermal efficiency of the water heater can be also raised.
