Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the corrosion resistance, hardness, cracking resistance and sinterability of a WC-TaC-TiC superhead alloy by adding an adequate amount of TiN to the alloy.
CONSTITUTION: This corrosion-resistant hard alloy has a composition consisting of 2W5wt% in total of TaC and TiC, 1W3wt% TiN and the balance WC. This alloy is a sintered alloy with high relative density, and it is hard and has high corrosion resistance as well as high cracking resistance. Accordingly, this alloy is suitable for use as a material for a mechanically sealing ring, a valve and a nozzle for the chemical industry.
